Janelle Morrison, a professional local artist who specializes in acrylic and oil paintings featuring animals, has been selected as the artist to create the pup portraits that will hang at the new White Dog Chester Springs in Exton, set to open in 2024. There are 20 spots available.
The painting sizes include 6x8, 8x10, 12x12, and 12x14 and range in price from $500 to $1000 with a portion of the proceeds going to Alpha Bravo Canine,™ Philadelphia’s first and only 501(c)3 organization that donates service dogs to US veterans suffering from debilitating medical and psychological problems as a result of their active combat duty.
Morrison is well-known in the area, specifically for the way she captures dogs on canvas. Inspired by painting her own two dogs originally (Zizou and Mia), she has now painted more than 100 dogs for their beloved owners.
Morrison said she falls in love with every dog she paints, striving to find the dog’s true personality and spirit to capture the emotional connection for the owner. Working from photographs, Janelle partners with each client to learn about the dog prior to starting each painting; then she begins the journey of bringing the dog to life on canvas. Originally from the West Coast, Morrison now is an East Coaster – combining both into her business name: West Coast East Coast Painter. She lives in Devon with her husband, three children, and two dogs who are the lifeblood of the house, and her assistants who make sure each work is canine-approved. Morrison’s art has been featured at the Devon Horse Show Art Gallery and several local stores.
